Stages of Contractor Representation in a Real Estate Transaction

1. Engagement Stage – Contract and Agreement Review

The first stage of contractor representation is a thorough review of the contractor agreement (or performance agreement). This agreement is the central document that defines all obligations of the parties, the scope of work, the schedule, payment terms, insurance conditions, the contractor's liability, and the rights of the other party. An unclear or incomplete agreement can lead to serious disputes later on.
